DIVISION OF CORPORATE SERVICES
1. ASSISTANT ICT OFFICER: SEKU GRADE 9 (FORMERLY GRADE 7) - REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/1/10/2025 - 1 POSITION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract
a) Job Specifications
An officer may be deployed in Business Applications, Data Base or Infrastructure Support.
Business Applications
Duties and responsibilities entail:
i. Carrying out systems analysis;
ii. Developing and documenting programming specifications in liaison with users;
iii. Customizing and updating application systems;
iv. Researching on new technologies and innovations;
v. Testing developed applications;
vi. Creating working relationships with the ICT Team, Applications users, Business Champions, Contracted Service Providers and Consultants; and
vii. Training and supporting users on the various applications.
Database
Duties and responsibilities entail:
i. Performing database server administration and associated daily administrative tasks;
ii. Ensuring performance management, integrity and security of a database is maintained;
iii. Ensuring availability of existing Oracle/SQL Server and other operational databases;
iv. Monitoring, tuning, changing control, scheduling tasks, backing up jobs, recovery processes, alerts, and database storage needs for operational databases;
v. Performing fault diagnosis, troubleshoot and correct problems that occur within operational databases;
vi. Documenting, developing, testing and implementing updates to operational databases;
vii. Designing and implementing replication solutions for operational databases;
viii. Designing, evaluating, and testing new database applications;
ix. Performing solution testing to ensure that databases integrate smoothly into the current operational environment;
x. Recommending system enhancements to maximize application efficiency.
xi. Researching on current technology trends for innovations;
xii. Working with appropriate departmental resources to ensure that all database solutions are integrated into the institution鈥檚 database standards and that all databases are tested to ensure complete compatibility with the institution鈥檚 hardware, software, and peripherals; and
xiii. Performing second level user support Respond to after-hours database problems.
Infrastructure & Support
Duties and responsibilities entail:
i. Training new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems;
ii. Creating materials and presentations for trainings and reports;
iii. Assessing user capacity and suggest trainings and areas in need of improvement;
iv. Performing routine system administrative tasks;
v. Creating and maintaining inventory, which may include hardware, software and various items such as laser printer cartridges and peripheral equipment;
vi. Assisting with preparation of operating budgets based on estimated and actual expenditures for ICT;
vii. Setting-up computer prior to new staff start date and any related moves;
viii. Handling the relocation of computer equipment as a result of office or personnel changes;
ix. Setting up new user accounts and email accounts;
x. Troubleshooting system issues such as repairing user accounts and email accounts;
xi. Resetting passwords; and
xii. Conducting preventive maintenance on ICT equipment.
b) Person Specification
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:
i. A Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering, or any other equivalent qualification from an accredited and recognized university.
ii. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
iii. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
iv. Proficiency in Programming, Database querying and Analytical skills;
v. Member of Computer Society of Kenya or an equivalent Body;
vi. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
2. PRINCIPAL CLERICAL OFFICER, SEKU GRADE 11 (FORMERLY GRADE 5) - REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/2/10/2025 - 1 POSITION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract
a) Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
i. Verifying compiled statistical records for accuracy;
ii. Processing of human resource records and accounting transaction;
iii. Maintaining efficient filing system;
iv. Safe custody of invoices, receipts, vouchers and related records;
v. Processing appointments, promotions, discipline cases, transfers and other related duties in human resource management;
vi. Preparing payment vouchers;
vii. Computing financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of information;
viii. (viii)Drafting routine correspondences;
ix. Drafting indents for advertisement;
x. Assisting Administrative officers/Assistnts in matters clerical work; and
xi. Mentoring and guiding other junior clerical officers.
b) Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
i. Have a Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management, Supply Management, Records Management, Business Administration or Kenya Accountants and Technicians Certificate (KATC), Intermediate level of Kenya Administration and Management Examination (KAME), offered by Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
ii. KCSE D Plus or equivalent from a recognized institution
iii. Have at least eight (8) years relevant working experience;
iv. Be of proven integrity, transparency and accountability;
v. Be Proficient in computer applications.;
vi. Have demonstrated professional competence in discharging the Clerical work; and
vii. Meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
3. ARTISAN: ELECTRICIAN SEKU GRADE 13 (FORMERLY GRADE 3) - REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/3/10/2025 - 1 POSITION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract
a) Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities shall entail:
i. Maintainaning of buildings, equipment and plants.
ii. Undertaking routine or special building maintainance works, estimate and submit requests for maintenance materials.
iii. Participating in preparing specifications for minor works and carrying out valuation.
b) Person specifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:
i. Have a KCSE certificate with a minimum of D Plain or its equivalent from a recognized instituion.
ii. Have a Craft Certificate(GTT III) or equivalent in relevant field from a recognized institution.
iii. Have practical knowledge of maintenance works.
iv. Be computer literate.
v. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
4. ARTISAN: PLUMBER - SEKU GRADE 13 (FORMERLY GRADE 3) - REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/4/10/2025 - 1 POSITION
