In an MOA signed on 3rd June 2025, both parties agreed to build joint Kenya 鈥揅hina Laboratory on dryland agriculture ecology in SEKU, ,facilitate basic researches, talent cultivation, technology development and transfer with the education programmes to students, staff and famers at the joint laboratory and organize academic meetings, symposium, for innovative researches among others.

This comes after the two parties signed an MOU in 2013 and agreed partner in research areas like agronomy and agro-ecology of dryland crops, soil water plant relations in dryland, agro-forestry systems, natural resource management and environmental sustainability, grass-livestock interactions and biotechnology.
