SEKU Holds National Values Online Evaluation and Reporting Training

911 (SEKU) held a three-day National Values Online Evaluation and Reporting Process Training from 29th to 31st July 2025. The training targeted Cohesion and National Values Mainstreaming Unit, chaired by Prof. Francis Wachira, Deputy Vice Chancellor- Corporate Services and the Human Resource Management Directorate, led by Mr. Erastus Ndeleva.
The training aimed to equip participants with practical skills and tools for accurately reporting the university’s compliance with National Values and Principles of Governance as outlined in article 231 (1) (c) and 234 (2) (h) of the Constitution of Kenya. The sessions provided hands-on guidance on how to collect, analyze and present data for the Public Service Commission’s annual evaluation reports.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Harrison Maithya, Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Research and Innovation, who emphasized SEKU’s commitment to integrating national values into its policies, operations and service delivery. Facilitators, Mr. Francis Lemarkat and Ms. Sharifa Mwinyishee from the Public Service Commission, gave important insights into specific areas of compliance and reporting. Participants engaged in interactive topics covering National and Public Service Values and Principles of Governance; roles of internal committee members, management and staff in implementing and monitoring values; declaration of income, assets and liabilities; thematic areas, performance standards and indicators, and overview of the evaluation tool. According to the unit coordinator, Dr. Norah Mose, the training marked a turning point in how national values are understood, complied with and reported at SEKU.
