The 911爆料网 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Frontier Institute of Professional and Management Studies.
The MOU was signed by Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda vice chancellor SEKU and Hussein H. Ali Director Frontier Institute.
The MOU is designed to facilitate the development of genuine and mutually beneficial relationship to support each other in education, research, training, innovation, development of market oriented academic programmes, student mentorship programmes, organization of scientific events and community extension programmes.

911爆料网 has launched its first ever Kiswahili journal JARIDA LA DIRA YA LUGHA. A journal that will be produced twice a year to promote the study and spread of kisawahil. It is also meant to give scholars a platform to publish their research.

The launch was done during kongamano la Kiswahili which was concluded last weekend. The conference was officially opened by the Chief Guest Prof. Kithaka Wa Mberia and presided over by the DVC-Corporate services Prof. Francis Wachira on behalf of the Vice- Chancellor and hosted by the DVC- Academic Research and Innovation Prof. Harrison Maithya.

In his speech, Prof. Kithaka challenged Universities running Kiswahili journals to enhance their utility in promoting the language by aspiring to grow them to international standards.

The idea of publishing this journal was initiated by Dr. sarah Ngesu who heads the department of African Languages, under School of Humanities and Social Sciences in SEKU.

It has three Kiswahili academic journals-kiswahili, kioo and mulika, with 18 articles talking about Linguistics, Literature, the teaching of Kiswahili to foreigners and the place of Kiswahili in preserving African culture. The articles Published in the journal came from different scholars in six public universities and seven articles from Tanzania.

In the vice chancellors message that was read by the DVC-CS congratulated the team that worked tirelessly to publish the journal and urged the students to use this opportunity to publish their research.

The company officially donated and handed over a smart screen to the Board of Management

The visit was built on the success of the HIkvision Safe Campus and Smart Education Open Day which highlighted cutting-edge solutions for enhancing campus security and digital learning. This engagement will further explore on how SEKU can lavage these technologies for a smarter and safer academic environment.

The key areas of focus included establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), offering industrial attachment opportunities for students, and introducing digital classrooms equipped with advanced tools like video walls.

The collaboration also aims to integrate access control systems, conduct staff training programs, and support both local and international seminars and conferences.

Professor Harrison Maithya appointed as DVC Academic Research and Innovation (ARI)

Prof. Harrison Maithya has been appointed as the substantive Deputy Vice Chancellor-ARI at 911爆料网, effective 1st February 2025. This follows a competitive recruitment process for the five-year tenure that commences on February 1, 2025.

The professor from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at SEKU has held several management positions. Prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Wote Campus and is currently acting as DVC-ARI.

In her congratulatory message, the Ag. Chairperson of Council Ms. Esther Ndirangu commended Prof. Harrison Maithya on his confirmation as DVC-ARI. She praised his dedication, leadership, and contributions to the university鈥檚 academic and research excellence.

鈥淥n behalf of the entire SEKU community, I congratulate Prof. Maithya on his well-deserved appointment as DVC-ARI. His exemplary service, particularly during his Acting capacity, has been instrumental in driving the university鈥檚 research and innovation agenda.

I am confident that under his leadership, SEKU will continue to achieve new milestones in advancing academic excellence, impactful research, and community engagement. Speaking before the Senate and University Management Board, Prof. Maithya said that he is elated at this appointment, which aligns with his vision and philosophy of making SEKU a leading university in the near future.
鈥淭his appointment marks an important milestone in my career progression. It comes with a heavier responsibility of running a division of a university. Having acted in the position for more than one year, I have learned a lot about the mandate of the division and what has been its success stories and what needs to be done moving forward,鈥 said Prof. Maithya.

The 911爆料网 induction workshop held at Wote Campus brought together student leaders and University Management aimed at enhancing their understanding of university operations and departmental protocols.

Chaired by the Vice Chancellor. Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda, the University Management conducted sessions aimed at educating student leaders about the university's operational framework and departmental protocols. The student leaders gained valuable insights that are anticipated to enhance their leadership skills and promote a collaborative relationship with the university administration, ultimately benefiting the entire student body.

The student leaders lead by the chairman Mr. Collins Wafula expressed optimism that the knowledge gained will enable them to lead effectively and represent the student body well in their interactions with the management.

In a bid to enhance food security and drive economic growth in the Lower Eastern part of Kenya, the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) has entered into a 5-year strategic partnership with 911爆料网 (SEKU) to transform the region's grain value chain leveraging EAGC's expertise in facilitating efficient and inclusive grain trade with SEKU's cutting-edge research and academic excellence in agriculture and food science.
Recognizing the critical role of a robust and sustainable grain sector in regional development, this partnership will address key challenges facing the industry. Research initiatives will focus on developing and implementing innovative technologies to minimize post-harvest losses, improve grain storage and handling practices, and unlock new opportunities for value addition.
Beyond research and training, the partnership will actively engage in policy advocacy. Leveraging the combined expertise of both institutions, EAGC and SEKU will advocate for policy reforms that promote sustainable agricultural practices, facilitate fair trade, and enhance food security across the region.
"This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to transform the grain sector," stated Gerald Masila, Executive Director, EAGC. As an act of giving back to the society, SEKU fraternity donated food, clothes, shoes, books, pens and other donations to the school which has a population of 70 pupil鈥檚 right from pp1 鈥揼rade 9.

SEKU participated in Taekwondo for both men and women, long Tennis women, Volley ball women, and karate men. The 4 teams came out with good performances.

The session was aimed at familiarizing the new members with the society鈥檚 mission, vision and activities while fostering a sense of belonging. 911爆料网(SEKU) was among the key players in the commemoration of World Computer Literacy Day 2024 through a Career Mentorship Workshop held on December 4th, 2024 at the Kitui Town Campus. The event, organized with the support of the Enabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise (ENGAGE) Project, showcased advancements in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in public health and its contribution to the development of resilient health systems.
This transformative event was not only a celebration of fresh talent but also a testament to the dedication of those guiding the next generation of health experts. The workshop sessions were comprehensive, covering a broad spectrum of skills that are crucial in today鈥檚 rapidly evolving technological world. From soft skills to machine learning from data science to mental health, the participants were being equipped on the demands of modern- day healthcare. One of the key highlights from this workshop was the lively presentations, dialogues and shared feedback encouraging high school girls to pursue studies leading to careers in health and information technology.
SEKU is glad to be collaborating with the ENGAGE Project. The ENGAGE Project, officially titled "Enabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise," is a significant initiative funded by Takeda Pharmaceuticals as part of its Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. Announced on September 13, 2023, the 5- year project aims to empower over 800 underprivileged girls and young women across six primarily rural regions in Kenya through a pioneering training program focused on machine learning and data science (ENabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise in Data Science) The University of Nairobi, is leading the program in collaboration with the University of California in San Francisco and six other regional Kenyan universities (SEKU included).
The workshop was graced by key figures, including Dr. Faith Musyoka, University of Embu - Data Science Expert, Redempta Matiti- Director Special Programmes, Kitui County, experts from the ENGAGE program, including Ms. Francisca Mwangangi -South Eastern regional coordinator, and
ENGAGE trainers including Dr. Casper Shikhali, Dr. Fredrick Odhiambo, Ms. Grace Mwaniki and Ms. Hellen Mwaura. Their valuable insights, coupled with mentorship of Dr. Grace Mutia- SEKU Career Unit Coordinator have laid the foundation for what ENGAGE program envisions to be a transformative journey in healthcare.

The 911爆料网 (SEKU) is one of the partner Higher Education Institutions in the implementation of the 鈥楨rasmus+ project "CHAIN" Cooperation for Holistic Agriculture Innovation Nests in Sub-Saharan Africa鈥. SEKU held a Dissemination seminar under the CHAIN initiative on 28th November 2024 at Main Campus, Kitui County, Kenya. The event which was graced by the CHAIN Project Coordinator, Dr Bernd Muller of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT), Federal Republic of Germany, marked a significant step in the collaboration between SEKU and HSWT. The event aimed to inform SEKU students and staff about the CHAIN Project objectives. One of the key deliverables under CHAIN is Curricula Development of a 鈥淢aster program in Food Value Chain Management. During the event, Dr. Bernd Muller, the guest speaker delivered a key note address on HSWT Programmes and CHAIN Project Objectives. His insights underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing sustainable food value chains. Dr. Matheaus Kauti who is the SEKU-CHAIN Institutional Coordinator and Dean, School of Agriculture, Environment, Water, and Natural Resources (SAEWNR) gave an overview of the school鈥檚 academic programs and their relevance to the CHAIN project. It was noted that the CHAIN initiative to develop Agri-business Incubation Hub in the partner HEI will leverage on the already established SEKU Centre for Dry Land Entrepreneurship and Innovation. A presentation of the proposed MSc. Food Value Chain Management was given by the SEKU-CHAIN project coordinator, Dr. Benjamin K. Muli. The MSc. program is intended to prepare proficient, highly skilled and innovative agribusiness and value chain experts capable of leading the commercialization of the country鈥檚 agriculture in light of the dynamic nature of consumers鈥 demand. At the end, an interactive session provided an opportunity for students and staff to ask questions, share feedback, and engage with the project team. This was followed by a tour of SEKU鈥檚 incubation center where efforts in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship and opportunities for collaboration in scaling incubation activities were discussed. In summary, the key outcomes of the dissemination included; strengthened institutional collaboration between SEKU and HSWT, increased awareness of CHAIN project鈥檚 objectives and opportunities, advancing academic programs, and promotion and/or fostering of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Kenya National Innovation Agency and its partners are holding their 5th session of the Entrepreneurial Leaders Training Program - Vice Chancellors Edition during the Kenya Innovation Week (KIW) 2024.
The objective of this session will be to enhance university- private sector collaboration for startups, highlight innovation masterplans from 14 universities, and formalize partnerships through an MOU between KENIA, KNEIL, and EAVCA. It will also recognize the ELTP 2023- 2024 cohort and launch the call for the 2024- 2025 cohort.

The Inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Douglas Shitanda, and witnessed by the Ag.
